Voices in Vegan Studies Speaker Series

As part of a new Vegan Studies Initiative, Arihanta Institute is hosting an online speaker series featuring premier scholars in the field of Vegan Studies. The aim of the Voices in Vegan Studies (ViVS) series is twofold: first, to bring mainstream Vegan Studies research and ideas to the Jain community and scholars working in Jain Studies and Engaged Jain Studies; second, to expose non-Jains to the many ways Jain philosophy and practice align with veganism and how Jains connect their veganism to their religious heritage and identity.

The series will be spread out over nine lectures and cover four themes:

  • The Philosophy and Ethics of Veganism
  • Transitioning to Plant-Based Food Systems
  • Inclusive Vegan Advocacy
  • Contemporary Jainism and Veganism

Arihanta professor Jonathan Dickstein will host and moderate the sessions. Each lecture is 40-50 minutes followed by 30 minutes of Q&A.

Please register for each of the speaker series events individually from the Series page.
